Jami Coogan (Lexy) is proud to once again be working with the New Cockpit Ensemble. She was last seen as Kristi in Michael’s #1 Fan. Jami is a relatively new arrival in New York, having relocated from Michigan. She is a member of the NJ Women's Theater Co. in Madison and can be seen this year in two of their touring shows: Frontiers and Spins, Swings and Kicks. Theatrical credits include; The Women, Cosi, Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, Romeo & Juliet, Trip to Bountiful, Moonlight Serenade & 813: American Fiction. Lexy marks her fourth role in a premiere play and she really delights in being part of the creative process of putting a new work on stage. Jami holds a Masters Degree from CalPoly State University. Thank you Frank, for your belief, friendship and literary lunacy!

Deborah Aaronson (Jag) just completed a run of A Bakers Dozen and other American Folk Tales with the Theatre Project Ensemble (co-starring Garry Goodrow). Other NYC stage credits include The Parables of Chang Joe, directed by the legendary Paul Sills (original cast member), The Baby Dance (Wanda), several original productions with The Rag and Bone Shop, Goldilocks in The Three Bears (Grove Street Playhouse), and The Comedy of Eras (written and directed by Illona Vellios). Other roles include Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker, Snoopy in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown and a lead role in A.R. Gurney's The Dining Room. She received her BA from the University of Maryland at College Park and is a 2000 graduate of the New Actors Workshop 2-year professional training program where she studied with Mike Nichols, George Morrison, and Paul Sills. Michael Ciminera (Adam) is a graduate of William Esper Studios here in Manhattan. Recent feature film credits include: BloodBrother (Frank-e-), Strutting Into Chaos (Don) and most recently playing a gun-toting police officer in Lawrence Page’s new flick Murda Musik.  Recent stage credits include: Zip Code Of Atlantis (Travis) directed by double OBIE winner Larry Myers, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Harding), and A Midsummer Nights Dream (Theseus). Michael also appeared in Frank J. Avella’s last play. Michael’s # 1 Fan as Hank. Thrilled to be back in action with the Cockpit, Michael would like to sincerely thank Frank for the opportunity. Art Goyette (Scott) recent credits include: Ross in Macbeth, the Boatswain in The Tempest (Artemis & the Wild Things), Dally in The Outsiders (National Tour with the National Theatre of the Performing Arts, Inc.), Pancho in Night of the Iguana (Dorset Theater Festival), Dromio in Comedy of Errors (The Hampshire Shakespeare Company) and Skinhead Boy in Polaroid Stories (New World Theater/UMASS Theater). Art is a native of Worcester, Massachusetts. Art would like to thank Frank J. Avella for this opportunity. Guenia Lemos (Miriam) after graduating college, Guenia began her career playing Ruby Frank on the CBS soap “As the World Turns,” and she currently has a recurring role on ABC’s “One Life to Live.” Other TV experiences include: Simone da Silva on NBC’s “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” New York theatre credits: A Midsummer Night's Dream (Titania), Hopscotch: The New York Sex Comedy (Margo), and The Male Creature (Maria). Independent film credits include: The Killers and Cupid. Huge thanks to Frank for giving me the opportunity to play a nice mean person and also for opening my horizons to NJ. Jeanine Tolve (Alana) has enjoyed a seven-year run as lead vocalist for the original rock band, Inner Soul, having won numerous band competitions nationally and internationally. ACTF Bronze medal winner for Going On!, an original musical at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. NY Stage: Forever Luscious, New York, New York, Michael’s #1 Fan. Film: 15 Minutes with Robert DeNiro, People I Know with Al Pacino, Marci X with Lisa Kudrow. Television: 100 Centre Street, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Sex and the City. National Anthem singer for the NJ Nets, NJ Devils, Bill Cosby Track Meet, NCAA Semi Finals, etc... Cabaret performer at Danny’s Skylight Room & Don’t Tell Mama. Frank J. Avella (Author/Director) wrote and directed Michael’s #1 Fan last year at the PCII. His play, 3 Cains (also directed), had its NYC premiere at the Bank St. Theatre and Unhinging saw it’s theatre row debut at the Judith Anderson. Four of his works were featured in Screams from the Cockpit, an anthology evening at the Producers’ Club. He has since completed two more full lengths: Iris, a comedy of taboos and Greener, a supernatural shocker. Currently working on his seventh play, NYC M4M NOW, Frank has also written three screenplays including 3 of 10, an Italian-American family drama and Landslide, an upside down road movie. He has proudly served as Artistic Director of the Cockpit Ensemble for the last eight years. Frank reviews films weekly for the Business Talk Radio show, Talkin’ Pets with Jon Patch ( He is eternally indebted to his amazing ensemble and crackerjack crew. A huge thanx to HVK.

Kristine Elan Caplinger (Understudy/Set Design) created the role of Lee in the New Cockpit’s production of FJA’s Michael’s #1Fan last year. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from Ramapo College of NJ. Her acting credits include: Gertrude Down (Vix), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Titania), Room Service (Gribble), Mad Forest (Florina) and Blood Wedding (Girl). Kris has designed sets for productions of Rent as well as various one-acts. She’s currently performing improv with Grown-up Playground at the New York Comedy Club on alternate Fridays. Studying to be a stuntwoman, Kris should be throwing herself out of buildings soon. She thanks her families and Rich’s mom.

Brian Townes (Understudy — Adam) is thrilled to once again be working with the New Cockpit Ensemble. He appeared in last Fall's production of Michael's #1 Fan. Other NYC credits include work with the Neighborhood Playhouse, the Abingdon Theatre Co., Playwrights Horizons, and on ABC's “All My Children”. He will be appearing in the Greenlands Theatre Collective production of Steven Dietz's Lonely Planet at the Pantheon Theatre throughout the month of April. He is currently filming the mystery/romance A Perfect Love, scheduled for completion and release in 2003.

John Bartenstein (Lighting Design) has held the position of Resident Lighting Designer at the University of Hartford's Hartt School of Music and Performing Arts (Trojan Women, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cosi Fan Tutte, Little Shop of Horrors, Into The Woods, Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicci) as well as at Roanoke Island Festival Park.(Scapino!, Fantastiks, NCSA Modern Dance) Regionally he has designed at Florida Repertory Theater (The Man Who Came To Dinner, Social Security) and for The Schools of the Hartford Ballet and Dance CT. (Premier of By Gershwin, Premier of Metamor-Phing) Other works include: The Piano Lesson, Once In a Lifetime, The Promise, and numerous Industrials across the Southeast with Atlantic Lighting and Sound.  John received his BFA from The North Carolina School of the Arts, College of Design & Production.
